President to unveil MS statue in Tirupati on March 30

President, Dr. A.P.J. Kalam is likely to unveil a 14 foot high bronze statue of late M. S. Subbulakshmi, the uncrowned empress of Carnatic music, in the temple town of Tirupati on Telugu New year’s day ‘UGADI’ on March 30.

Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) Chairman, Mr. B.Karunakara Reddy said today that the statue, in sitting posture, made of bronze weighing about 4000 KGs, worth about 11 lakh, was donated to the TUDA by a TTD Board Member, Mr. N. Nageswara Rao.

Extending its’ invitation to the President to unveil the statue, TUDA has sent a letter to Dr. Kalam through the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Y.S.Rajesekhara Reddy, TUDA Chairman added.
